Doorway Pediment The Customs House, Salem, MA

Late 18th C. carved wood doorway pediment from the Custom's House, Salem, MA.  Bold leaf and scroll carving with central section rendering of The Great  Seal of the City of Salem.  Latin motto translates "To the Farthest Port of the Rich East."

Extremely rare and unique.  In excellent condition, old repaint, some loss.

Size:  9 'long x 40" high

Provenance:  The Collection of the late Allan Forbes, President of State Street Trust Company, Boston.
