Circa 1800-1830, this type of turkey breast corner cupboard is defines a distinctive furniture-making region in southern Delaware and is most likely the work of the Ralph family of cabinetmakers, Charles Thomas Ralph ( 1775-1845) and his sons James English Ralph and William Ralph. The smaller size makes it quite rare. These distinctive cupboards are based on classical architectural design. Multiple moldings and repetitive-pattern borders adorn their sides and tops. This fine example is in excellent condition with the original oak begs and hammered nails, old repair to upper lock, minor damage to top trim molding. Size: 79" tall, 49-1/2 wide at the front, 33-1/2" depth corner rail to corner.
