New England Inlaid Candlestand, 1780-1800

Massachusetts or Connecticut.  In mahogany, the oval top with inlaid banding around the edge, inlaid star in center, birdcage support beneath, resting on turned shaft with typical urn-designed base, supported on tripod snake feet with string inlays, ending with unusual two-color inlaid cuffing. Inlay is probably boxwood.
